Cascade on Mineral Creek

Cascade on Mineral Creek

This can be a pretty cascade during normal to high water flow, and it's directly beside the road. Upstream are a couple of more cascades that are a wee bit higher than this one. At one of them, two small streams pour into one pool. There are some killer swimming holes up there as well. None of these qualify as significant waterfalls, but if you're in the area already they're worth checking out.

Driving Directions

From the Blue Ridge Parkway at milepost 367.5, follow the access road toward the Craggy Gardens Picnic Area. The goes uphill, levels out and reaches an intersection - go left onto the gravel Stony Fork Road. This road descends to start crossing the creeks; the cascade is on the left 2.3 miles from the Parkway. During wet weather, you will see other cascades on the left as well.

Trail Description

You can follow an old skid road uphill along the creek to find a couple of more cascades and some really nice, deep swimming holes. But they're cold!
