Moravian Falls

This is a gentle slide in two tiers - the top tier being slightly higher and steeper than the bottom one. It ends in a small pool. The falls is located next to an old reproduction mill building with a water wheel on the side, which can either ruin or make a photograph, depending on your approach.

Driving Directions

From Wilkesboro, NC, take NC Hwy. 18/16 south for 3.8 miles. Turn right onto NC Hwy. 18 and go about 1/2 mile. Turn left on Falls Rd. and go another 1/2 mile. The waterfall will be visible on your left, but please be considerate of other drivers and don't stop on the road.

Trail Description

The falls is located on the property of Moravian Falls Campground and visitors are allowed to view the falls. Please stop in at the campground and get permission before crossing the street and walking across the grassy area to the falls, and consider staying there if you're visiting the area.
